The trip in short
San Francisco first, and across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. Two days of wine in Napa and Sonoma, then up the coast north of the Bay to Mendocino, a 19th-century village on the cliffs. At Eureka you walk among the redwoods of Redwood National Park, the tallest trees on earth. Then east over the mountains to Lake Tahoe, with the blue of Emerald Bay, and back to the city. Northern California at its greenest; by camper along the coast: down the Pacific coast.
