Two days in Seattle, then a week at sea through the Inside Passage to Alaska: glaciers calving into the fjords, whales off the bow and gold-rush towns like Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. Back in Seattle you pick up the car for the Olympic Peninsula, Hurricane Ridge and the Hoh Rain Forest, and a night at Mount Rainier, below the meadows of Paradise.
