Three days in Boston, on the Freedom Trail and at a game in Fenway Park. Then out onto Cape Cod: Chatham's beaches and lighthouse, and the dunes of Provincetown at the tip, where boats go out to watch humpback whales. Newport, in Rhode Island, has the summer mansions of the Gilded Age along its Cliff Walk. Sand, sea and seafood: a summer trip among the coast trips of the Northeast. In autumn, go north instead: New England in the fall.
