From Denver and the amphitheatre of Red Rocks up to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, where Trail Ridge Road climbs above 3,700 metres. Down past the hot springs of Glenwood Springs to Ouray, and over the Million Dollar Highway to Durango, for the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde and the old steam train to Silverton. Great Sand Dunes rises near Alamosa; Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak end the trip at Colorado Springs. Mountains and national parks in the Rockies; in winter: skiing in Colorado.
