Pick up the bike in Atlanta and ride to the Great Smoky Mountains, with the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap: 318 curves in 11 miles. At Asheville you join the Blue Ridge Parkway, a road made for riding, with no trucks and no traffic lights. Past Grandfather Mountain and the Linn Cove Viaduct at Boone, the star on Mill Mountain at Roanoke, and Skyline Drive through Shenandoah to Washington.
